Long, long ago when Abby was very small and threw temper tantrums [a time now past and nearly forgotten due to my and Eric's flawless parenting], my long-time friend Jenny was present for one and promptly got on the floor beside her and copied her. Abby thumped her chubby legs angrily and Jenny kicked hers in mimic. Astounded, Abby stopped and looked over at her. It was the stuff of kids' books.
Yesterday when I commented on how well Abby took to her after not seeing her for a year, Jenny recalled this lesson and said the bond was formed on the floor at that moment.
